What do you do when you are ready to move forward with a decision, but God hasn’t answered yet?
I asked myself this when I saw what King Saul did in this situation. He was ready to move forward in battle against the Philistines, but the priest had not yet finished the process of getting an answer from God.
This process involved using two objects, the Urim and Thummin, and they were kept inside the ephod the priest wore. God instructed His people to make these objects with the purpose of consulting Him in matters such as war, choosing a king, etc.
Saul was ready to go to battle, and when the priest was not finished with the process of consulting with God, Saul told him:
“Withdrawal your hand.” 1 Samuel 14:19
How many times have I “withdrawn my hand” from seeking what God wanted me to do in a situation because I was in a hurry?
Did it look as obvious as Saul telling the priest to stop seeking an answer from God. Not at all. But it looks that obvious to God.
What does the bible tell us about waiting upon the Lord?
“Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40:31
Wait. Gain new strength. Mount up with wings like eagles. Run and don’t get tired. Walk and don’t become weary.
Sounds like a good plan to me, how about you?
