What do you do when you’re at a crossroads & you don’t know which path to take? How do you pick which path to pursue? How do you know which direction is best for you & your life?

Don’t choose. Just follow.

May I encourage you to just follow where the Lord leads? If you are following Him, your path is already forged. How so? Because the Lord has gone on before you.

The group of kids that I volunteer with, on Wednesday nights at church, work on memorizing scripture as a part of the AWANA program. Sometimes, we like to draw the memory verse out to help commit it to memory. One of the verses we learned last year is this:

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Deuteronomy 31:8

Moses said this to Joshua as Joshua was preparing to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. This is how we drew this verse:

This brought excitement & comfort to a group of 7-8 year-olds! They loved the fact that the Lord went before the Israelites, providing a path for them. They knew that the Lord could do the same for them in their lives, as long as they trust the Lord to do so, and then follow where He leads.

In Proverbs, we encounter this promise:
“If you trust in the Lord with ALL your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding,
If you acknowledge Him in all your ways,
He will direct your path.”
Proverbs 3:5-6

Ummm…..I’m not supposed to lean on my own understanding???
Yep, that’s right.
Where the Lord leads can be beyond what we are thinking. You see, He sees the big picture. We don’t. This is why it is so awesome that if we give Him our lives & trust Him with our future, He will lead where we need to go.

Does this mean that the path will be perfect & void of trials & hardships?!
Absolutely not.
You see, the path is here on earth…a place where there will be trials, but take heart, the Lord will be with you through those too, and they are great learning lessons of how He works. We’ve just got to keep trusting Him will ALL our heart, not just part of it.

When & where the Lord leads, there is no confusion. There is no fear. There is no discouragement.

But, guys, the key to ALL this, is that we must read God’s Word daily to even know where He is leading. We’ve got to talk & listen to Him daily. We must take time to be still with Him.

Wait…a book that is older than I am is going to help me know where to go???
Yep again.
This is such an important step in knowing where the Lord is leading. A step that is often by-passed. How can one know How to follow the Lord if he/she doesn’t know what the Lord is like? How the Lord works? How the Lord sounds? How the Lord communicates to His people?

Want clear direction in your life? Direction that is free from confusion? Want a path that is already forged for you?

Trust God with your life. Read His word. Walk in the path He has forged for you.

Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
