This was a story that was told to me this week by Mrs. Diane, with whom I work, and like any good story, it needs to be retold.

She told me that she was eating dinner with her daughter & son-in-law at a restaurant when her son-in-law’s phone rang. It was his son, Diane’s grandson, on the phone. Her grandson is at college & he was having car trouble, which is why he called his dad.
He called his dad in a time of trouble.

Diane listened as her son-in-law walked his son through what to do. She noticed that he was so calm & clear with instructions, and explained step-by-step what do to. Even though there was such hustle-and-bustle that comes with any restaurant, this dad was completely zeroed-in on the voice of his son and what he needed. In this moment, she had silently thanked God for such a wonderful husband for her daughter, who was such a wonderful dad to her grandson.
The father was completely focused on the voice of his child.

Instructions were explained about where the AAA/insurance carIMG_0004.jpgd was in the glove box. The father explained to his son, “Even though it is my name on the card, you are also covered, since you are my son.”
You are covered because you are my child.

I could completely see the analogy that Diane saw at the table as she listened, and I loved it!

As children of God, we can call upon Him for help.
He called his dad in a time of trouble.

When we call upon God in times of trouble, He hears us.
The father was completely focused on the voice of his child.

The Psalmist testifies: “I love the LORD, because He hears My voice and my supplications.”
Psalm 116:1

If we have made the decision to become followers of Jesus, we are covered by His cloak of righteousness. Our sins are covered by the action of the Father; the Father sending His Son, Jesus, to die & take the punishment of our sins.
You are covered because you are my child.

“I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,
My soul will exult in my God;
For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
Isaiah 61:10

Precious one, are you covered?
If not, what are you waiting for?

If you are, remember that you can call upon the Father in times of trouble (and of course, in times of praise!). He will hear you. The punishment of your sins are covered because you are a child of God.

You’re covered. Rest in that promise.

As a child of God, you will desire to serve the Lord only, to be holy and pleasing to Him, to take the time to learn more about Him through His word, showing Him that you delight in Him. For, He delights in you too!
